Conoscenze

Lo studente potrà acquisire conoscenze sulle principali caratteristiche della storia della filosofia moderna.

Knowledge

The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the basic elements of Modern  Philosophy.

Modalità di verifica delle conoscenze

La verifica delle conoscenze avverrà attraverso momenti di discussione collettiva, nonché attraverso le modalità di verifica illustrate in Modalità d'esame.

Assessment criteria of knowledge

Verification of knowledge will be through moments of collective debate at the end, as well as through the exam final test.

Capacità

Lo studente sarà capace di orientarsi con qualche autonomia nell'analisi dei testi e di alcune delle figure più significative che caratterizzano il pensiero dell'età moderna.

Skills

The student will be able to apply a method of studying History of Philosophy and interpreting philosophical texts.

Students are required to actively participate in the moments of feedback and verification that will be held during the course.

Comportamenti

Lo studente durante il corso potrà acquisire alcuni strumenti della ricerca storico-filosofica: inquadramento storico delle problematiche filosofiche, sensibilità e attenzione al lessico filosofico, ricerca e analisi delle fonti.

La partecipazione attiva è apprezzata e incoraggiata.

Behaviors

During the course, the student will acquire some historical-philosophical research tools: historical philosophical issues, sensitivity and attention to the philosophical lexicon, search and analysis of the sources.

Active participation is appreciated and encouraged.

 

Modalità di verifica dei comportamenti

Durante il corso si potrà verificare se lo studente ha acquisito i rudimenti della ricerca storico-filosofica attraverso l'analisi delle modalità di discussione.

Assessment criteria of behaviors

During the course the students will be evaluated on their progress regarding the rudiments of historical-philosophical research through an analysis of their questions and discussions.

Prerequisiti (conoscenze iniziali)

È preferibile (ma non obbligatorio) che lo studente possegga informazioni di base sulla storia della filosofia dal '500 al '700.

Prerequisites

The student should have some background information about the History of Philosophy from XVIth to XVIIIth century.

This prerequisite is not mandatory.

Indicazioni metodologiche

Il corso si svolgerà attraverso lezioni frontali e discussione collettiva. Tutti i materiali didattici (testi aggiuntivi, schemi, slides,...) saranno disponibili su Moodle, dove potrà essere organizzato eentualmente un forum di discussione.

Lo studente potrà interagire con il docente sia nelle discussioni in classe, sia durante il ricevimento settimanale (per particolari e singoli aspetti).

Teaching methods

The course will develop through classroom lessons and group discussion. All didactic materials will be available on the e-learning platform Moodle. Eventually a discussion forum will be organized on the same platform.

The student can interact with the teacher both in the class discussions and in individual appointments.

Programma (contenuti dell'insegnamento)

Il corso costituisce un’introduzione alla storia della filosofia moderna (periodizzazione, caratteristiche storiografiche e istituzionali, nozioni-chiave, temi principali), attraverso la lettura e il commento in classe del Discorso sul metodo di René Descartes.

 

 

 

Syllabus

The course is an introduction to the history of modern philosophy (its periodization, its main historical features, key-notions and main topics), through the reading and commentary of the Discourse on the method by Descartes.

Modalità d'esame

L'esame consiste in un colloquio orale fra il candidato e il docente o altri membri della commissione. Durante il colloquio al candidato verrà chiesto di leggere e commentare alcuni passi del testo d'esame n. 1.

La prova orale non è superata se il candidato dimostra di non conoscere un qualunque testo del programma; se non è in grado di usare un linguaggio italiano corretto; se non è in grado di collegare temi e problemi ricorrenti nei testi proposti dal programma; se non è in grado di analizzare e utilizzare i concetti e le argomentazioni caratterizzanti dei testi proposti. 

È prevista anche una prova scritta in itinere sulla parte manualistica e di storia della filosofia generale (testi nn. 2 e 3), riservata agli studenti frequentanti. Le modalità (tipo di prova, data, valutazione) saranno chiarite agli studenti all'inizio del corso.

Assessment methods

The final exam will be an oral discussion between the student and the teacher or other members of the commission. During the discussion the student will be asked to read and comment on some passages from text n. 1.

The student will fail the exam if he/she does not know any text from the program; if he/she is unable to express concepts in Italian; if he/she is unable to connect recurring themes and problems; if he/she is unabe to analyze and use the most important concepts and reasoning from the texts.

A written test will be organized, about the general and introductory part of the course (texts n. 2 and 3).
