Corso di lezioni: TIPOLOGIA SOCIOLINGUISTICA: CORRELAZIONI BASICHE (PERICOLOSE?) FRA GRAMMATICA FORMALE E CONTESTO SOCIALE(LINGUE PIDGIN CREOLE, HOME SIGNS, LINGUE ERGATIVE)
Il corso intende fornire competenze teoriche e metodologiche nel settore della sociolinguistica contemporanea affrontando il tema della RELAZIONE FRA CONTATTO estremo oppure ISOLAMENTO linguistico estremo nella prospettiva della TIPOLOGIA SINTATTICA procedendo attraverso l'esame STRUTTURALE ma anche SOCIOCULTURALE di situazioni contestuali diverse, che possono rappresentare gradi diversi di una SCALA DI GRADIENZA DI COMPLESSITA'.
In base ai dati osservati e alla bibliografia internazionale il Corso controlla e tenta di approfondire in termini di correlazione l'ipotesi che grammatiche più semplici siano in relazione a lingue più EXOTERICHE (forti contatti) e grammatiche più complesse siano in relazione a lingue più ESOTERICHE (assenza o scarsità di contatti).
Con argomentazioni nuove suggerite da analisi sui grandi DATA BASE disponibili (WALS, APiCS etc) e reinterpretate in una prospettiva EVO-DEVO (Evolution and Development) vengono ipotizzate CORRELAZIONI SOCIOSINTATTICHE relativamente a:1) il caso delle LINGUE CREOLE (proposto nel Corso come ipotesi di massimo contatto), 2)il caso delle LINGUE DOMESTICHE scoperto negli home signers da Goldin-Meadow (proposto nel Corso come ipotesi di caso estremo di isolamento linguistico in una intimates society) e 3) il caso delle LINGUE ERGATIVE (proposto nel Corso per la relazione fra ruoli semantici e struttura sintattica).
Course: SOCIOLINGUISTIC TYPOLOGY: BASIC (DANGEROUS?) CORRELATIONSHIPS OF FORMAL GRAMMAR AND SOCIAL CONTEXT (PIDGIN-CREOLE LANGUAGES, HOME SIGNS, ERGATIVE LANGUAGES)
The course aims to provide theoretical and methodological skills in the field of contemporary sociolinguistics addressing the subject of RELATIONSHIPS between extreme linguistic CONTACT or extreme linguistic ISOLATION in the perspective of SYNTACTIC TYPOLOGY proceeding through the STRUCTURAL but also SOCIOCULTURAL exam of different contextual situations, representing different degrees of a COMPLEXITY GRADIENCE SCALE.
On the basis of the observed data and international literature, the Course checks and attempts to deepen the hypothesis that simpler grammars are related to more EXOTERIC languages (strong contacts) and more complex grammars are related to more ESOTERIC languages (absence or lack of contacts).
After a new analysis of the largest DATA BASES (on Pidgin and Creole Languages, and on World Languages Structures) reinterpreted in an EVO-DEVO (Evolution and Development) perspective à la Bickerton are here formulated CONTEXT/LANGUAGE CORRELATIONS about: 1) the case of CREOLE LANGUAGES (proposed in the Course as maximum contact hypothesis), 2 ) the case of DOMESTIC LANGUAGES discovered in the home signers by Goldin-Meadow (proposed in the Course as an extreme case of linguistic isolation in an intimates society) and 3) the case of ERGATIVE LANGUAGES (proposed in the Course for the relationship between semantic cognition and syntactic structure).
