Il corso intende presentare la civiltà slava nella sua evoluzione storica, culturale e linguistica ripercorrendo le tappe principali del suo sviluppo dalle origini fino al X sec. Si illustreranno alcuni fenomeni particolarmente significativi nell'ambito della grammatica paleoslava.
Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito conoscenze relative alla civiltà slava delle origini, al mondo slavo medievale e alla prima lingua letteraria slava.
The course is intended to present the historical, cultural and linguistic evolution of the Slavs from their origins up to the 10th c., and to illustrate the most important aspects of the Paleoslavic grammar.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge of the early and medieval Slavic world and the first Slavic literary language.
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the Slavic civilization from its origins up to the 10th century; he/she will be aware of the historical and cultural processes that led to the christianization of the Slavs, to the rise of the first Slavic literary language, and to the distinction between a so called "Slavia latina" and a so called "Slavia orthodoxa".

Lo studente sarà in grado di collocare adeguatamente gli eventi della preistoria e della storia medievale slava nel più ampio contesto indoeuropeo e mediterraneo, e di individuare le dinamiche fondamentali che presiedono all'evoluzione della prima lingua letteraria slava.
Students will be able to correctly contextualize the main events of the Slavic prehistory and history and properly identify the principal evolutionary trends of the first Slavic literary language.

Per seguire il corso in modo proficuo si dovrebbero possedere conoscenze basilari nell'ambito della storia antica e medievale e della linguistica storica.
