Titolo del Corso 2020/2021: Mind the Gap. Colmare il divario tra teorie e pratiche
Da più parti viene oggi registrandosi una pressante lamentela relativa all’inefficacia della filosofia di farsi valere nelle pratiche. L’autonomia di quest’ultime sempre più sembra convertirsi in indifferenza non solo rispetto alle teorie filosofiche faticosamente messe a punto, ma anche nei confronti del lavoro dei filosofi, ritenuto del tutto ininfluente ed autoreferenziale.
Il corso vuole mettere a tema il gap tra le teorie etiche e le pratiche in cui quelle teorie dovrebbero trovare attuazione. La relazione teoria-pratica, infatti, per quanto generalmente data per scontata, richiede una riflessione che ne evidenzi le condizioni di possibilità. Chi si fa carico di tradurre nelle pratiche le indicazioni teoriche? Un tale compito di traduzione è di competenza del filosofo? Quali modelli esistono di incardinazione delle teorie nelle pratiche? Nel momento in cui si tratti oggi di fronteggiare sfide impegnative ed un tempo impensabili sul fronte della neuroetica, della relazione medico-paziente, delle trasformazioni della comunicazione (fake news, deep fake), delle sfide all’ambiente, del transumanesimo, ecc., occorre essere certi che l’attuazione delle indicazioni normative sia libera da ostacoli tali da inficiarne l’efficacia. D’altro canto, una tale attenzione non può prescindere da una considerazione dei momenti più significativi della storia dell’etica e dello sfondo dell’etica generale all’interno del quale l’etica applicata si colloca.
Title of the Course 2020/2021: Mind the Gap. Bridging the gap between theories and practices
There is now a pressing complaint from many quarters about the ineffectiveness of the philosophy of asserting itself in practice. The autonomy of the latter increasingly seems to turn into indifference not only with respect to the philosophical theories laboriously developed, but also with respect to the work of philosophers, considered completely irrelevant and self-referential.
The course aims to address the gap between ethical theories and the practices in which those theories should be implemented. The theory-practice relationship, in fact, although generally taken for granted, requires reflection that highlights its conditions of possibility. Who is responsible for translating theoretical indications into practice? Does such a task of translation fall within the competence of the philosopher? What models exist of incardination of theories in practices? At a time when we have to deal with the challenges that were once unthinkable in terms of neuroethics, the doctor-patient relationship, transformations in communication (fake news, deep fake), challenges to the environment, transhumanism, etc., we need to be sure that the implementation of normative indications is free of obstacles that could affect their effectiveness. On the other hand, such attention cannot disregard consideration of the most significant moments in the history of ethics and the background of general ethics within which applied ethics is placed.

In addition to the texts already provided for attending students, non-attending students will add the following volume:

L’esame sarà orale. Lo studente sarà chiamato a rispondere a domande sul programma d’esame da parte del docente e da parte degli altri membri della commissione. L’esame non risulterà superato se lo studente dimostrerà nel corso del colloquio, non rispondendo alle domande o rispondendo in modo incompleto, di non aver approfondito a sufficienza gli argomenti d’esami.
The exam will be oral. The student will be asked to answer questions about the exam program by the professor and the other members of the examination commission. The exam will not be passed if the student proves during the interview, either by not answering the questions or by answering incompletely, that he or she has not studied the exam topics sufficiently.
