Il corso si propone di analizzare aspetti della scrittura ieratica e della cultura egiziana antica attraverso la lettura e analisi di fonti testuali dal Antico Regno alla Epoca Romana.

The course aims to analyze aspects of hieratic writing and ancient Egyptian culture through the reading and analysis of textual sources from the old Kingdom to the Roman Period.

Saper leggere, tradurre, e commentare un testo geroglifico della grammatica di Medio Egiziano nei suoi aspetti grafici, grammaticali e sintattici. Conoscenza del Neoegiziano vantaggioso ma non obbligatorio.
Being able to read, translate, and comment on a hieroglyphic texts in Middle Egyptian in all its graphic, grammatical and syntactic aspects. Knowledge of the Neo-Egyptian is an advantage but not mandatory.
Esame finale orale.

Lo studente potrà acquisire metodologie e sensibilità atte all'analisi e lettura di testi ieratici.
The student will be able to acquire methodologies and skills suitable for the analysis and reading of hieratic texts.
Durante il lavoro in classe saranno verificate l'acquisizione della metodologia e la sensibilità sviluppata nell'approccio verso testi ieratici.
During the lessons the acquisition of the methodology and the skills developed in the approach towards hieratic texts will be verified.
Conoscenza del Medio Egiziano e capacità di leggere il geroglifico. Conoscenza del Neoegiziano vantaggioso ma non obbligatorio.
Knowledge of Middle Egyptian and the ability to read the hieroglyphic script. Knowledge of the Neo-Egyptian is an advantage but not mandatory.

Il corso esaminerà vari testi scritti in ieratico del Nuovo Regno dalla Collezione di Papiri del Museo Egizio a Torino. Il corso si concentra sui testi letterari in scrittura onciale, l’ieratico librario di spiccata leggibilità, come racconti, insegnamenti, rituali, funerari e testi magici.
L'elenco dei testi e la relativa bibliografia saranno forniti prima dell'inizio del corso. Tutto il materiale relativo ai testi letti nel corso e altri strumenti utili saranno messi a disposizione sulla piattaforma di E-learning del corso.

The course will examine various texts written in hieratic of the New Kingdom from the Papyrus Collection of the Museo Egizio in Turin. The course focuses on literary texts in uncial writing, the highly readable book hieratic, such as stories, teachings, rituals, funerary and magical texts.
The list of texts and the relative bibliography will be provided before the start of the course. All the material to the texts read in the course and other useful tools will be made available on the E-learning platform of the course.

Final oral exam. The exam will consist of reading, the translation and commenting of passages from the hieratic texts dealed with during the lessons.
During the oral exam the homework sent to students 14 days before the exam is discussed and deepened. Tasks include the transcription and translation of a hieratic text.
