Lo studente acquisirà i fondamenti teorici e metodologici della disciplina sociologica
The student will get the theoretical and methodological basis of the sociology as discipline
Le conoscenze richieste verranno testate attraverso lo svolgimento di prove intermedie
The required knowledges will be tested through intermediate written tests
Lo studente sarà in possesso delle conoscenze storiche e metodologiche
per comprendere e ipotizzare spiegazioni sui processi di mutamento sociale e sulle principali dimensioni proprie delle società complesse (stratificazione sociale, devianza, sviluppo ecc.)
The student will get historical and methodological knowledges in order to understand and hypothesize explanations of the processes of social change and of the main dimensions of complex societies (social stratification, deviance, development and so on)
Saranno testate sia nella prova finale (per chi la sosterrà, non avendo superato una o entrambe le prove intermedie) sia attraverso discussioni da svolgere in classe
The skills will be tested both in the final test (for those who will support it, not having passed one or both intermediate tests) and through debates to be performed in class.
Lo studente svilupperà una serie di strumenti critici utili a comprendere le relazioni tra la dimensione strutturale (struttura) e quella biografica (azione)
The student will develop a series of critical tools concerning the relationship between the structural dimension (structure) and the biographical dimension (action)
La verifica sarà affidata a esercizi di simulazione in classe, al commento di video proiettati in classe, ai test intemedi e alla prova orale per chi la sosterrà
Verification will be entrusted to classroom simulation exercises, commentary on classroom video,
intermediate tests and oral exams for those who support it.

The lessons will be held in person , according to the indications available on the website www.sp.unipi.it
Videos and slides sometimes will be projected. The Professor will be available for talks and clarifications during office hours, duly published on the department site.

Il corso intende introdurre gli studenti alla conoscenza delle principali prospettive, degli autori e dei temi che compongono il quadro della teoria sociologica classica e contemporanea.
Il percorso sarà articolato in due momendi.
1. Introduzione al lessico e alla metodologia sociologica
2. Introduziione alla teoria sociologica contemporanea, attraverso la quale valorizzare l'esperienza dei classici
The course aims to introduce the students to the knowledge of the main perspectives, authors, and themes that represents the framework of classical and contemporary sociological theory.
The course will organized in two parts
1. Introduction to the keywords and methodological tools of sociology
2. A presentation of the contemporary social theory, through which the classical theory will be tested and enhanced

Syllabus is the same for attending and non attending students
Durante il periodo delle lezioni si terranno due prove scritte a risposta mista (aperta e chiusa).
Le due prove sono indipendenti, si può sostenere la seconda senza aver superato o sostenuto la prima.
Qualora si siano sostenute le due prove, superandole, sarà sempre possibile sostenere una prova orale nella quale migliorare il voto dello scritto, da tenersi in corrispondenza di uno degli appelli ufficiali.
Se lo studente decide di non sostenere l'orale, il voto finale è la media (approssimata per eccesso) del risultato delle due prove.
L'orale sarà imvece sostenuto da coloro che abbiano partecipato ad una sola prova intermedia e abbiano ottenuto la votazione di 18/30. All'orale lo studente sarà esonerato dagli argomenti d'esame oggetto della prova scritta sostenuta.
Two mixed-response (open and closed) written tests will be held during the class period.
The two tests are independent; you may take the second one without having passed or taken the first one.
If one has taken the two tests and passed them, it will always be possible to take an oral test in which to improve the grade of the written paper, to be held at one of the official dates.
If the student decides not to take the oral, the final grade is the average (approximated by excess) of the result of the two tests.
The oral will be taken by those who participated in only one midterm and obtained a grade of 18/30. At the oral, the student will be exempt from the examination topics covered by the written test taken.
