Gli studenti acquisiranno conoscenze storiche e metodologiche sulla cosiddetta Scuola Romana, con un approfondimento sulla pittura di Scipione, Mario Mafai, Antonio Donghi, Fausto Pirandello, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Corrado Cagli e Renato Guttuso.
The student will learn about historical and methodological issues concerning the so called Scuola Romana. The focus will be especially on Scipione, Mario Mafai, Antonietta Raphael, Antonio Donghi, Fausto Pirandello, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Corrado Cagli and Renato Guttuso.
La graduale acquisizione delle conoscenze sarà verificata già durante le lezioni attraverso brevi esercitazioni, compiute dal docente insieme agli studenti di fronte a immagini.
Questo metodo di verifica potrà essere sistematicamente applicato da ciascuno studente durante la preparazione dell’esame, utilizzando la raccolta di immagini proiettate durante le lezioni.
La verifica delle conoscenze avverrà attraverso un elaborato scritto e nel corso di seminari.
The gradual acquisition of knowledge will be verified already during the lessons through short exercises, performed by the Professor together with the students. This assessment method can be systematically applied by each student during the preparation of the exam, by using the collection of images projected during the lessons.
The course will be assessed in the course of seminars and through an essay which the students will have to submit.

Durante il lavoro di gruppo sono verificate le modalità di definizione delle responsabilità, di gestione e organizzazione delle fasi progettuali.
The way in which teams of students will assign tasks and responsibilities, and structure each phase of their work will be carefully monitored and assessed.
Il corso è costituito da una prima parte di lezioni frontali e da una seconda parte a base seminariale in cui gruppi di studenti sono chiamati ad approfondire specifici aspetti del programma. I seminari sono preceduti da un lavoro di pianificazione congiunto tra docente e studenti, e da verifiche in corso d'opera, prima della presentazione formale.
I materiali delle lezioni frontali (power-points), così come la bibliografia dettagliata sono forniti sulla piattaforma Microsoft Teams. Su di essa verranno poi caricati anche i seminari degli studenti con i relativi materiali di studio (power points, bibliografie e saggi).
The course will consist of a first group of frontal lectures followed by a second part in which the students will be directly engaged in seminars which will focus on specific aspects of the course syllabus. Seminars will be preceeded by planning sessions jointly held with the tutor and iamed at identifying the core issues, allotting reading and research, as well as by sessions before the formal presentations in the course of which the tutor will verify the work progress and its coherence with the targets set.
All the teaching materials used in frontal lectures (i.e. power-points) and detailed reading lists will be uploaded on Microsoft Teams, which will also eventually contain the work produced for the students' seminars (power-points, reading materials, final essays).
La Scuola Romana
Scopo del corso è indagare i principali aspetti della cosiddetta Scuola Romana: saranno oggetto di approfondimento le origini della Scuola Romana, il percorso dei suoi principali protagonisti. Focus specifici saranno dedicati all'attività espositiva degli artisti della Scuola Romana e al dibattito critico che accompagnò questa esperienza nel periodo fra le due guerre.
The aim of this course is to examine various aspects of the so called Scuola Romana: its origins, its main protagonists. An in depth study will be carried out on exhibitions and the critical debate on the Scuola Romana.
Gli studenti dovranno studiare la raccolta di testi (in formato .pdf) disponibile sulla piattaforma online dell'Univeirstà di Pisa (Microsoft Teams).
Students who attend course's classes will have to study the essays that are included in the syllabus uploaded on the Microsoft Teams platform.
Gli studenti non frequentanti dovranno contattare via email il docente.

L’esame consiste nella preparazione di un seminario, da presentare in aula durante la parte conclusiva del corso, e nella scrittura di una relazione di approfondimento (della lunghezza di 5.000 parole circa, note incluse, bibliografia esclusa) su un tema legato al corso e concordato con il docente.
La relazione dovrà essere consegnata al docente in .pdf, per posta elettronica, almeno una settimana prima dell’inizio dell’appello di esame.
La valutazione del seminario e della relazione di approfondimento concorre alla formulazione del voto (espresso in trentesimi).
The final exam will be based on:
1) A seminar, presented in oral form during the last part of the course.
2) A written work of circa 5.000 words (footnotes included, bibliography excluded), on a topic that has to be agreed with the professor.
The written work must be submitted by e-mail, in .pdf format, at least one week before the beginning of the chosen exam session.
Seminar and written work will be assessed and graded according to the standard grading system (30/30).
