Lo studente alla fine del corso deve essere in grado di conoscere la storia e le specificità tecniche delle arti decorative dalla seconda metà del XIX ad oggi, con un approccio critico al tradizionale sistema di valutazione delle arti visive.
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the history and technical details of the decorative arts from the second half of XIX century to the present, looking critically at traditional criteria of evaluation of the fine arts.

During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression.

E' preferibile avere già conoscenze relative alla storia dell'arte del XIX e XX secolo e alle vicende storiche coeve.
It would be better to have kwoledge of XIX and XX century history and history of art.
Si raccomanda di basare lo studio sulla visione delle opere oggetto di analisi, integrando le illustrazioni dei testi con le immagini proposte a lezione e messe a disposizione su moodle e con l'utilizzo di quelle reperibili on line con la ricerca su Google Immagini.
It is adviced to study looking at images of works of art analyzed, using both the class-web page and Google images.
Il corso proporrà un'analisi degli sviluppi del disegno industriale a partire dagli esiti della prima Esposizione Universale di Londra del 1851, per giungere alla realtà attuale del design.
The course will be dedicated to the history of industrial design, from 1851 London Great Exhibition to present day.

Gli studenti non frequentanti devono integrare le poche illustrazioni presenti nel volume di Maurizio Vitta con quelle di tutti gli oggetti di cui si parla nei testo reperibili on line con la ricerca su Google Immagini.
Non-attending students must complete the study of the essay by Maurizio Vitta with the vision on Google Images of the all items not illustrate in the book.
