At the end of this course the student should know the foundations of modern Calculus of Variations (including existence results via the direct method, basic regularity) and some of its applications.
Esame orale.
Final oral examination.
At the end of the course students should be able to understand at least the introduction of a research publication on the subject. He should also be able to complete a proof starting from a sketch, and fill-in the technical details omitted in the lectures.
Prova orale.
Oral examination.
Understanding the idea behind more advanced proofs, and the motivations of recent research trends.
Esame orale.
