Conoscenze

Knowledge

The student who successfully completes the course will have the ability to identify the relations between different linguistic phenomena and the interactions between the different levels of linguistic analysis (e.g., phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics). He will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the cognitive principles underlying language organization and change. He will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of specific linguistic phenomena including, in particular, the distribution of morphosyntactic patterns governed by semantic and conceptual properties. He will be aware of the language variation and change, of the interaction between sociocultural factors and neurobiologically dependent factors in language, and of the need for integrating various approach to the study of language.

Esame finale.

Assessment criteria of knowledge

The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. He must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression.

Methods:

  • Final oral exam

Esame finale.
