Al termine del corso, se avrà frequentato con regolarità, interesse e serietà le lezioni, e avrà studiato approfonditamente i materiali affrontati durante il corso:
- lo studente potrà avere acquisito i fondamenti della storia politica e letteraria portoghese del periodo compreso dalle origini al Seicento
- lo studente potrà aver acquisito gli strumenti per la riflessione comparativa riguardo a temi e modalità espressive in età media e moderna, tra Europa, Brasile e Africa
- lo studente potrà aver colto le sopravvivenze di pratiche medievali, rinascimentali e barocche in età contemporanea
By the end of the course, if the student has attended most of the lessons, took part in the discussions actively and has studied the materials addressed during the course:
- s/he may have acquired the fundamentals of Portuguese political and literary history in the period from the origins to the XVIIth century
- s/he may have acquired the tools for a comparative reflection on themes and modalities of expression in the middle and modern age, between Europe, Brazil and Africa
- s/he may have caught the survivals of medieval, Renaissance and Baroque practices in the contemporary age

Il corso si rivolge a studenti di primo anno (LIN, LET) o a studenti magistrali che non possiedono conoscenze di lingua portoghese.
- Non sono richiesti prerequisiti specifici sul mondo di lingua portoghese, bensì è auspicabile una buona cultura generale e la conoscenza (livello liceo) della storia e della letteratura italiana e internazionale.
The course is aimed at first-year (LIN, LET) or master’s students with no knowledge of Portuguese
- no specific prerequisites are required on the Portuguese language world, but a good general knowledge (high school level) of Italian and international history and literature is desirable

Il superamento di tutte le prove previste per il primo anno è requisito per affrontare l'esame di secondo anno.

Le lezioni
- sono tenute in italiano, mentre i testi saranno letti in lingua originale accompagnati da traduzione (quando esiste) o da una traduzione di servizio
- si svolgono in aula (o su Piattaforma Microsoft Teams), con l'ausilio di materiali audio e video e, eventualmente, di slides su determinati argomenti
Per ciò che concerne i materiali
- si useranno Antologie di testi elaborate ad hoc dalla docente
- si userà la piattaforma Moodle per l'interazione docente/studente e la condivisione di materiali distribuiti durante lezioni, bibliografia o altri materiali di difficile reperimento

Lessons

“Da ocidental praia lusitana”: Camões, l’Europa, il Mondo
(Letteratura portoghese 1)
Scopo del corso è fornire gli strumenti per comprendere le peculiari dinamiche storiche e letterarie del mondo di lingua portoghese, dalle origini alla soglia del mondo moderno (XVII secolo).
In particolare prenderà come prisma di lettura la produzione di Luís de Camões, il poeta lirico, il poeta epico, il drammaturgo cinquecentesco che entra nel canone della letteratura di ogni paese che parla portoghese e costituisce il suo intertesto privilegiato fino ai giorni nostri. Attraverso l’analisi dei brani più significativi dei Lusíadas (1572), si seguirà lo sviluppo dell’espansione territoriale europea e la costruzione dell’idea imperiale, con le sue implicazioni ideologiche, culturali e politiche che hanno reso il Portogallo centro e periferia del mondo occidentale.
Si rifletterà anche sulla mitizzazione e sul ribaltamento popolare della figura di Camões, in epoca contemporanea e in zone eccentriche rispetto all’Europa (Brasile, Africa, Oriente).
“Da ocidental praia lusitana”: Camões, Europe, World
(Portuguese Literature 1)
The course’s aim is to provide tools to understand peculiar historical and literary dynamics of the Portuguese-speaking world, from its origins until the threshold of the modern world (seventeenth century). Particularly, Luís de Camões’ production will be examined: the lyric poet, the epic poet, the sixteenth-century playwright who enters the literary canon of every Portuguese-speaking country and becomes a privileged inter-text even today. Through an analysis of the most meaningful excerpts from Os Lusíadas (1572), the European territorial expansion and the construction of Imperial ideas will be studied, with all their ideologic, cultural and political implications that led Portugal to stay both at the center and at the outskirts of the Western world. Camões mythologizing and popular overturning in the contemporary age and in areas outside the center of Europe will also be addressed.

Per i non frequentanti il programma è identico. I non frequentanti saranno tenuti a consolidare la loro preparazione estendendo lo studio a tutta la Bibliografia presente sul Programma d'esame finale che sarà caricato su Moodle, e dovranno affrontare in autonomia la lettura e il commento dei testi letterari.
Si pregano i non frequentanti di contattare comunque la docente all'inizio del corso.
For non-attending students the program is identical. Non-attending students will be required to consolidate their preparation by extending the study to the whole the bibliography on the final exam programme that will be uploaded to Moodle, and will have to deal with independent reading and commenting of literary texts.
Non-attending students are asked to contact the professor at the beginning of the course.
Il voto finale sarà unico e risulterà dalla media ponderata delle varie attività previste, che consistono in:
- prova scritta PROPEDEUTICA all'orale. La prova scritta consiste in un test diviso in due parti. Nella prima, un po' più nozionistica, lo studente dovrà definire in modo preciso ma sintetico alcuni fenomeni dati, dovrà indicare date o autori, dovrà collocare nel tempo avvenimenti storico-politici e decidere sulla veridicità di alcune affermazioni. Nella seconda, più libera, dovrà esprimersi in italiano corretto presentando un autore o una corrente, commentando un testo in prosa e un testo poetico.
- prova orale sui temi del corso
Gli studenti si dovranno iscrivere sia alla prova scritta sia alla prova orale sul Sistema d'Ateneo (le iscrizioni terminano 5 giorni prima della data della prova: non saranno accettati studenti non iscritti).
Lo studente potrà sostenere la prova ORALE anche in un appello successivo a quello nel quale ha sostenuto (e superato) la prova scritta (propedeutica). Tuttavia, se non conclude l'esame entro le due sessioni successive, dovrà ripetere la prova scritta.
he final vote will will result from the weighted average of the various activities planned, which consist of:
- A compulsory written test before the oral exam. The written test consists of a test divided into two parts. In the first one, which is a little more notionistic, the student will have to define in a precise but synthetic way some given phenomena, s/he will have to indicate dates or authors, place historical-political events in time and decide on the reliability of some statements. In the second, a freer part, s/he will have to express him/herself in Italian correctly by presenting an author, commenting on a prose text and a poetic text.
- An oral exam on the course topics.
Students must register both for the written test and for the oral examination on the University System (registration will end 5 days before the test date: non-registered students will not be accepted). The student can also take the ORAL exam in an exam session which is subsequent to the one in which he / she passed the written test (preparatory). However, if you do not complete the exam within the next two sessions, you will have to repeat the written test.
Data inizio corso: il corso sarà svolto su entrambi i semestri. Una prima parte (circa 18 ore) nel primo semestre e un'altra (circa 36 ore) nel secondo.
- Gli incontri del primo semestre inizieranno martedì 29 settembre 2020.
- Gli incontri del secondo semestre inizieranno lunedì 15 febbraio 2021.
Il corso è rivolto agli studenti LIN del primo anno (9 cfu) e agli studenti LET (9 cfu) o ITA (9 cfu).
- Gli studenti LET (vecchio ordinamento) che eventualmente dovessero maturare solo 6 cfu dovranno limitare la loro preparazione al punto (2) del programma.
- Gli studenti LET (vecchio ordinamento) che eventualmente dovessero maturare 12 cfu dovranno affrontare il programma completo da 9 cfu e in più dovranno consegnare, una settimana prima della prova orale, un elaborato scritto (in buon italiano, completo di bibliografia, seguendo le Norme di redazione caricate su Moodle) su un argomento di approfondimento concordato con la docente.
Si invitano gli studenti a iscriversi sulla piattaforma Moodle, sulla quale verranno caricati tutti i materiali distribuiti a lezione e tutte le informazioni utili e complementari per affrontare l'esame.

Course start date: the course will be held over both semesters. A first part (about 18 hours) in the first semester and another (about 36 hours) in the second.
- The meetings of the first semester will begin on Tuesday 29 September 2020.
- The meetings of the second semester will start on Monday 15 February 2021.
The course is addressed to students of LIN (9 cfu) and LET (9 cfu).
- LET students (vecchio ordinamento) who eventually have to acquire only 6 credits will sit the written test and just prepare one part of the programme that will be indicated to them.
- LET students (vecchio ordinamento) who may have to earn 12 credits will have to face the complete 9-cfu programme and one week before the oral examination they will have to hand in a written assignment (in good Italian, complete with bibliography, following the editorial rules uploaded on Moodle) on a topic agreed with the professor.
Students are invited to register on the Moodle platform, on which all the materials distributed in class and all the useful and complementary information to face the exam will be uploaded
