Al termine del corso, se avrà frequentato con regolarità, interesse e serietà le lezioni, e avrà studiato approfonditamente i materiali affrontati durante il corso:
- lo studente potrà avere acquisito i fondamenti della storia politica e letteraria portoghese del periodo compreso dal Settecento ai giorni nostri
- lo studente potrà aver acquisito gli strumenti per la riflessione comparativa riguardo a temi e modalità espressive in età moderna e contemporanea, tra Europa, Brasile e Africa
- lo studente di secondo anno che avrà frequentato il Laboratorio DIPLE avrà raggiunto un livello B1+ di competenza strumentale
By the end of the course, if the student has attended most of the lessons, took part in the discussions actively and has studied the materials addressed during the course:
- s/he may have acquired the fundamentals of Portuguese political and literary history in the period between the eighteenth century and present
- s/he may have acquired the tools for a comparative reflection on themes and modalities of expression in the modern and contemporary age, between Europe, Brazil and Africa
- second-year students attending the DIPLE Laboratory will achieve a B1+ level of instrumental competence.

For the assessment of knowledge
- active participation in the classroom will be stimulated
- critical intervention on certain topics and texts will be required
- the knowledge of the foundations of political and literary history from the eighteenth century to present will be verified in a written test at every exam session
- during practice (DIPLE), exercises will be assigned that students will have to do autonomously or collectively
- exercises on certain topics will be made available to students, who will have to do them autonomously, deliver them to the Professor, and participate to their individual office hours for correction (DIPLE Laboratory)

- lo studente saprà riconoscere le modalità peculiari della declinazione di temi e modalità letterarie del mondo contemporaneo
- lo studente di secondo anno sarà in grado di leggere, scrivere, capire e parlare la lingua portoghese (livello B1+)
By the end of the course, if the student has attended most of the lessons, took part in the discussions actively and has studied the materials addressed during the course:
- s/he will know how to place the most relevant political events in the history of Portugal, Brazil and Africa over time
- s/he will know how to place the most relevant literary currents of Portugal and Africa and the respective most representative voices over time
- s/he will be able to recognize the peculiar modalities of the declination of themes and literary modalities of the contemporary world
- second-year students will be able to read, write, understand, and speak Portuguese (B1+ level)

Il corso si rivolge a studenti di secondo e terzo anno.

- Oltre a una buona cultura generale e la conoscenza della storia e della letteratura italiana e internazionale, si presuppongono tutte le conoscenze acquisite durante il primo anno (per gli studenti di secondo anno) e di secondo di corso (per gli studenti di terzo anno)

Le lezioni e le esercitazioni (Laboratorio DIPLE)

Il fantastico nella letteratura di lingua portoghese
Scopo del corso è fornire gli strumenti per comprendere le peculiari dinamiche storiche e letterarie del mondo di lingua portoghese, dell’età moderna e contemporanea. Si approfondirà la specifica propensione all’irrazionale che spesso viene associato alla cosiddetta “alma portuguesa”, analizzando la presenza dell’elemento fantastico nella letteratura tra Otto e Novecento. Dopo una panoramica sul concetto di fantastico (come tema, come modo, come genere) nella teorizzazione letteraria, si seguirà la specifica declinazione del fantastico da Eça de Queirós (O milhafre), Álvaro de Carvalhal (Os canibais) alle proposte novecentesche “neo-fantastiche” di Fernando Pessoa, Ruben A., Herberto Helder o Jpsé Saramago. Saranno ricordate anche le posizioni brasiliane in questo ambito di Aloísio de Azevedo, Lygia Fagundes Telles, Guimarães Rosa.
Per il terzo anno:
Per gli studenti di terzo anno, che hanno già sostenuto le due annualità, e che dunque non sosterranno il consueto test scritto propedeutico, sarà organizzato un seminario di avviamento alla redazione dell’elaborato finalel: l'obiettivo è avviare gli studenti alla pratica della ricerca in autonomia nei suoi vari aspetti - dalla selezione dell'argomento, alla identificazione della bibliografia, al reperimento della stessa, alla presentazione e discussione delle letture compiute, fino alla redazione di un elaborato critico.
Solo per gli studenti di secondo anno:
Laboratorio DIPLE (ANNUALE): L'analisi degli aspetti sintattici teorici è accompagnata esercitazioni di comprensione e produzione scritta e orale e da esercizi strutturali guidati, in vista dell'eventuale accesso alla certificazione internazionale PLE.
The fantastic in Portuguese-speaking literature
The purpose of the course is to provide the tools to understand the unique historical and literary dynamics of the Portuguese-speaking world, in the modern and contemporary age. The specific propensity to the irrational, often associated with the so-called "alma portuguesa", will be explored, analyzing the presence of the fantastic element in literature between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. After an overview of the concept of the fantastic (as a theme, as a mode, as a genre) in literary theorization, we will follow the specific declination of the fantastic from Eça de Queirós (O milhafre), Álvaro de Carvalhal (Os canibais) to the twentieth-century proposals "neo- fantastic ”by Fernando Pessoa, Ruben A., Herberto Helder or Jpsé Saramago. The Brazilian positions in this area by Aloísio de Azevedo, Lygia Fagundes Telles, Guimarães Rosa will also be mentioned.
For the third year:
For third-year students, who have already taken the two years, and who therefore will not take the usual preparatory written test, will be organized an introductory seminar for the preparation of the final paper: the aim is to initiate students to practice research. independently in its various aspects - from the selection of the topic, to the identification of the bibliography, to the retrieval of the same, to the presentation and discussion of the readings completed, up to the drafting of a critical paper.
For second year students only:
DIPLE Laboratory (two semestres): The analysis of the theoretical syntactic aspects is accompanied by exercises of comprehension and written and oral production and by guided structural exercises, in view of the possible access to the international PLE certification.

Per i non frequentanti il programma è identico.
I non frequentanti saranno tenuti ad consolidare la loro preparazione estendendo lo studio a tutta la Bibliografia presente sul Programma d'esame finale che sarà caricato su Moodle, e dovranno affrontare in autonomia la lettura e il commento dei testi letterari.
Per il Laboratorio DIPLE, i non frequentanti del secondo anno necessariamente prepararsi sui seguenti materiali:

For non-attending students the program is identical. Non-attending students will be required to consolidate their preparation by extending the study to the whole the bibliography on the final exam programme that will be uploaded to Moodle, and will have to deal with independent reading and commenting of literary texts.
For the DIPLE Laboratory, non-attending students must prepare studying on the following materials:

Non-attending students are asked to contact the professor at the beginning of the course.
Il voto finale sarà unico e risulterà dalla media ponderata delle varie attività previste.
- Seconda annualità di Letteratura:
- prova scritta (in portoghese) PROPEDEUTICA all'orale. La prova scritta consiste in un breve test diviso in due parti. Nella prima, lo studente dovrà definire in modo preciso ma sintetico alcuni fenomeni dati, dovrà indicare date o autori, dovrà collocare nel tempo avvenimenti storico-politici e decidere sulla veridicità di alcune affermazioni. Nella seconda, più libera, dovrà commentare brevemente un testo in prosa e un testo poetico. La prova scritta potrà essere redatta in portoghese.
- Prova orale sui temi del corso (in portoghese)
per Laboratorio DIPLE:
- prove di competenza sulle quattro abilità (produzione scritta, produzione orale, comprensione scritta, comprensione orale)
2. Terza annualità di Letteratura:
- elaborato scritto in portoghese, su un tema del corso concordato con la docente, da consegnare in formato docx o pdf una settimana prima della prova orale.
- Prova orale in portoghese sui temi del corso.
Gli studenti si dovranno iscrivere sia alla prova scritta sia alla prova orale sul Sistema d'Ateneo (le iscrizioni terminano 5 giorni prima della data della prova: non saranno accettati studenti non iscritti).
Lo studente potrà sostenere la prova ORALE anche in un appello successivo a quello nel quale ha sostenuto (e superato) la prova scritta (propedeutica). Tuttavia, se non conclude l'esame entro le due sessioni successive, dovrà ripetere la prova scritta.
The final vote will will result from the weighted average of the various activities planned, which consist of:
- A compulsory written test before the oral exam. The written test consists of a test divided into two parts. In the first one, which is a little more notionistic, the student will have to define in a precise but synthetic way some given phenomena, s/he will have to indicate dates or authors, place historical-political events in time and decide on the reliability of some statements. In the second, a freer part, s/he will have to express him/herself in Italian correctly by presenting an author, commenting on a prose text and a poetic text.
- An oral exam on the course topics.
Third year students
- Third-year Literature: written essay on a subject of the course agreed with the professor, to be delivered in .docx or .pdf format one week before the oral exam.
- Oral exam in Portuguese on the subject of the course.
Students must register both for the written test and for the oral examination on the University System (registration will end 5 days before the test date: non-registered students will not be accepted). The student can also take the ORAL exam in an exam session which is subsequent to the one in which he / she passed the written test (preparatory). However, if you do not complete the exam within the next two sessions, you will have to repeat the written test.

Il corso è rivolto agli studenti di secondo anno di LIN (9 cfu) e LET (9 cfu).
- Gli studenti LET che eventualmente dovessero maturare solo 6 cfu sosterranno il test scritto e limiteranno la preparazione a una parte del programma che verrà loro indicata.
- Gli studenti LET che eventualmente dovessero maturare 12 cfu dovranno affrontare il programma completo da 9 cfu e in più dovranno consegnare, una settimana prima della prova orale, un elaborato scritto (in buon italiano, completo di bibliografia, seguendo le Norme di redazione caricate su Moodle) su un argomento di approfondimento concordato con la docente.
Si invitano gli studenti a iscriversi sulla piattaforma Moodle, sulla quale verranno caricati tutti i materiali distribuiti a lezione e tutte le informazioni utili e complementari per affrontare l'esame.

The course is addressed to students of LIN (9 cfu) and LET (9 cfu).
- LET students who eventually have to acquire only 6 credits will sit the written test and just prepare one part of the programme that will be indicated to them.
- LET students who may have to earn 12 credits will have to face the complete 9-cfu programme and one week before the oral examination they will have to hand in a written assignment (in good Italian, complete with bibliography, following the editorial rules uploaded on Moodle) on a topic agreed with the professor.
Students are invited to register on the Moodle platform, on which all the materials distributed in class and all the useful and complementary information to face the exam will be uploaded
