Al termine del corso, lo studente avrà acquisito conoscenze approfondite relative all'archeologia e all'arte romana, con particolare riferimento ai temi affrontati.
At the end of the course, the student will have acquired detailed knowledge of Roman archaeology and art, with a particular emphasis on the topics examined.

Conoscenza approfondita dell'arte e dell'archeologia romana, fondamenti di storia antica e di lingua e letteratura greca e latina.
Detailed knowledge of Roman art and archaeology, as well as Greek and Latin history, language and literature.
Il corso prevede lo svolgimento di 18 lezioni frontali di 90 minuti ciascuna, con proiezione di slides. Nel corso di tali sedute, gli studenti avranno la possibilità di presentare piccole ricerche autonome su oggetti o monumenti significativi.
Le informazioni relative al corso, alla bibliografia, nonché le istruzioni per le presentazioni saranno fornite attraverso la pagina Moodle del corso. La pagina Moodle è accessibile tramite le credenziali di Ateneo. Tutte le comunicazioni tra le docenti e gli studenti avverranno tramite il blog della pagina Moodle.
Online classes will be taught on Microsoft Teams.
Each module includes 18 lectures of 90 minutes each, with slide show. During these meetings, students will be asked to present and discuss individual artefacts or contexts based on first-hand research.
Information on the course, study materials, and instructions regarding the presentation will be available on the course page on Moodle, which students may access using their University credentials. The instructors will communicate with students using the Moodle blog.
Il programma riguarda principali aspetti cronologici, geografici, tecnologici, sociali, economici, antropologici della produzione artistica e artigianale nel mondo romano, con particolare riferimento alla produzione e al commercio dei sarcofagi. I temi trattati includono: le fonti letterarie relative al lavoro artigianale, lo statuto sociale dell'artista, il costo del lavoro e l'organizzazione della bottega, l'approvvigionamento dei materiali, la produzione e il commercio. I partecipanti saranno guidati nell'approfondimento delle capacità di analisi e comprensione di oggetti e monumenti e della letteratura scientifica.
The course addresses the principal questions about the chronology, geography, technology, economy, and anthropology of ancient Roman artistic production, with special focus on Roman sarcophagi. Topics will include: the literary sources on artistic production, the social standing of the artists and craftsmen, the cost of labour and workshops' organization, the supply of materials, the production and trade of sarcophagi. Participants will thus improve their skills in the analysis of artworks and monuments, as well as their abilities in the critical reading of scientific literature.

In addition to the textbook, the mandatory program includes articles and chapters dedicated to individual objects and/or techniques, which the instructors will share with students using the Moodle platform.
