Conoscenze

L'obiettivo del corso è quello di fornire agli studenti un'introduzione ai principali eventi della storia moderna europea e italiana dell'Ottocento e del Novecento. A partire dalla Rivoluzione francese, il corso affronterà i principali cambiamenti che il continente europeo ha affrontato nei secoli successivi; gli sconvolgimenti culturali, economici, politici e scientifici saranno analizzati e approfonditi in alcuni temi specifici con particolare attenzione ai problemi di ricerca metodologica. Tra i temi principali: il Risorgimento, le guerre mondiali, l'Olocausto e la nascita della Repubblica italiana.
Knowledge

The aim of the course is to give to the students an introduction to the main events of the Nineteenth and Twentieth- century Modern European and Italian History. Beginning with the French Revolution, the course will address the major changes that the European continent faced over the following centuries; cultural, economic, political and scientific upheavals will be analyzed and explored in some specific topics with a particular attention to methodological research problems. Major themes include: the Risorgimento, world wars, the Holocaust, and the birth of the Italian Republic.
