Incastellamento e popolamento nella Toscana nord-occidentale
Si affronteranno i principali temi e metodi della disciplina. Verranno presentati e analizzati i caratteri dell'insediamento nel territorio montano, approfondendo in particolare il sistema delle pievi e il fenomeno dell'incastellamento tramite il confronto di alcuni casi specifici: Fosdinovo, Brina in Lunigiana e Godano in Val di Vara.
Si impareranno a schedare i dati salienti degli insediamenti tratti dalla doumentazione scritta e si fornirà un primo approccio alla loro schedatura cartografica (GIS)
La schedatura degli elevati sarà oggetto di una lezione in esterno, probilmente in Lunigiana
Castles and churches in Lunigiana
Students will learn the key issues and the principal methods of the subject. The core of the course will be on the typology of the settlement in montaneus and rural areas, especially focusing on the system of parish churches (pievi) and the foundation of the castles through two cases study: Fosdinovo, Brina in Lunigiana And Godano in Vara valley.
Students will learn to file the most important data of a settlement taken from the written documentation and will have a first approach to their cartographic mapping (GIS)
Some theoretical and pratical bases to conduct a survey of a settlement will be provided.
The filing of buildings and walls be the subject of an outdoor lesson, probably in Lunigiana
La verifica delle conoscenze si attuerà tramite il controllo e correzione di un elaborato scritto su un insediamento della Toscana nord-occidentale che lo studente dovrà produrre prima dell'esame. A questo si affiancherà un'interrogazione sulle principali tematiche del corso e i testi in programma.
Nella seconda metà del corso si chiederà di illustrare alla classe una lettura concordata.
Oral exam on the program and evaluation of a paper about a fortified settlement in nowrd-west Tuscany, that the student will have to write a week before the exam.
This will be accompanied by an oral exam on the main topics of the course and the texts in the program.
In the second half of the course students will be asked to illustrate a reading.

Le lezioni solo teoriche saranno registrate (non trasmesse in streaming) e date a disposizione degli studenti non frequentanti. L'esame sarà analogo a quello degli studenti frequentanti con l'aggiunga della recensione di 10 cartelle di un volume da concordare.
Theoretical lessons will be recorded (no streaming) and made available to non-attending students at the end of the course. The exam will be similar to that of attending students with the addition of a review of 10 pages of a volume to be agreed.
- Ogni studente avrà assegnato un compito di raccolta bibliografica, raccolta fonti edite e schedatura delle stesse
- Sull'insediamento casterense assegnato dovrà redigere una relazione comprensiva di fonti, analisi delle fonti, analisi della bibliografia, raccolta toponimi e ragionamento sulle ralzioni insediative.
- Ogni studente avrà assegnato in lettura un saggio su cui dovrà ralzioanere in aula possibilmente in lingua inglese
- L'esame si sostanzia in una discussione sul materiale prodotto con verifica orale delle conoscenze acquisite
- Each student will have to collect a bibliography and a set of published sources and to produce a databese of the main data
- He/she has to write a paper with notes and bibliography about a settlement.
Each student will have to read an essay tin order to describe it in class in English (if possible) - The exam consists in a discussion on the material produced with oral verification of the acquired knowledge
