Il corso è dedicato alle teorie del commercio internazionale e alla teoria monetaria internazionale. Pertanto, al termine del corso lo studente sarà in grado di comprendere la logica che guida le attività economiche internazionali delle imprese e come esse sono influenzate dalla presenza di diverse valute.
The course focuses on theories of international trade and international monetary theory. Therefore, by the end of the course, the student will be able to understand the logic guiding the international economic activities of businesses and how they are influenced by the presence of different currencies.
Per l'accertamento delle conoscenze saranno svolte prove in itinere mediante test e/o incontri tra il docente e il gruppo di studenti che sviluppano eventuali progetti.
To assess knowledge, in-progress evaluations will be conducted through tests and/or meetings between the instructor and student groups developing potential projects.
Lo studente sarà in grado di analizzare vicende economiche internazionali. Saprà inoltre cogliere le sfumature del ragionamento economico, capacità particolarmente apprezzata in molti contesti giuridico-istituzionali.
Students will be able to fully understand the causes and consequences of real international economic phenomena. Additionally, they will grasp the nuances of economic reasoning, a skill highly valued in many legal and institutional contexts.

Durante il corso saranno discussi alcuni strumenti per lo svolgimento di ricerche empiriche; gli studenti che desiderano acquisire maggiore familiarità con tali strumenti saranno messi in grado di ottenere tali risultati.
The course will introduce some instruments to conduct empirical researches; students that want to develop a higher confidence with such instruments will be enabled to get such result.

Per seguire proficuamente il corso, lo studente dovrà conoscere i fondamenti di economia politica (microeconomia e macroeconomia) e di diritto pubblico.

- Tassi di cambio, prezzi e tassi di interesse
- Politiche fiscali e monetarie: il modello di Mundell-Fleming
- Regime di cambio, crisi di bilancia dei pagamenti e attacchi speculativi
The course will be devoted to the following topics:

- Balance of payments and macroeconomic equilibrium
- Theories of international trade: Ricardo and Heckscher-Ohlin
- Imperfect competition, economies of scale and international trade
- Commercial policies
- Exchange rates, prices and interest rates
- Fiscal and monetary policies: the model of Mundell-Fleming
- Exchange regimes, crisis of the balance of payments and speculative attacks

Il programma è identico per frequentanti e non frequentanti. Tuttavia, essendo diverse le modalità di esame (per i non frequentanti l'esame è unico e riguarda l'intero programma), si suggerisce ai non frequentanti una presa di contatto con il docente, prima dell'esame.
The program is the same for both attending and non-attending students. However, since the examination methods differ (for non-attending students, the exam is unique and covers the entire program), non-attending students are advised to get in touch with the teacher before the exam.
L'esame è composto da due prove scritte durante il corso. Le prove parziali sono pensate principalmente per i frequentanti, e sono naturalmente opzionali. In caso di non superamento della prima prova scritta, vi sarà possibilità di recupero. Chi non ha sostenuto tali prove parziali e chi, pur avendole sostenute, non ha raggiunto una valutazione sufficiente, può sostenere l'esame finale sull'intero programma nelle date previste, come tutti i non frequentanti. In questo caso la prova finale è composta da un'unica prova scritta e una prova orale. In tutti i casi, la prova scritta consiste in una serie di domande e problemi da risolvere e si svolge in aula per una durata di un'ora (prove parziali) o due ore (prova sull'intero programma).
La prova orale consiste in un colloquio tra il candidato e il docente, o anche tra il candidato e altri collaboratori del docente titolare, e riguarderà gli elementi di criticità emersi durante la prova scritta. Durante l'orale, sarà apprezzata la volontà dello studente di risolvere le eventuali inesattezze della prova scritta.
The exam consists of two written tests during the course. The partial exams are primarily intended for attendees and are naturally optional. In case of failure in the first written test, there will be an opportunity for recovery. Those who have not taken these partial tests and those who, even if taken, have not achieved a sufficient evaluation, can take the final exam on the entire program on the scheduled dates, like all non-attendees. In this case, the final test consists of a single written test and an oral test. In all cases, the written test consists of a series of questions and problems to be solved and takes place in the classroom for a duration of one hour (partial exams) or two hours (entire program test).
The oral test is a discussion between the candidate and the teacher, or even between the candidate and other collaborators of the titular teacher, and will address the critical elements that emerged during the written test. During the oral exam, the student's willingness to address any inaccuracies in the written test will be appreciated.
